Born in Ardmore, Oklahoma on March 28, 1940 to Ward and Zoma Holt, he lived a poor and difficult childhood. Having lost his father at a young age, he dropped out of high school during his freshman year to support his mother from that point until the day she entered her heavenly home. Even though life was hard, that did not quench the sweet spirit that he carried within.
He was drafted into the Army, and served with honor for two years during the Vietnam War.
He met and married Freda Kaye Baker on November 27, 1968. They raised three daughters and are proud grandparents of six, and great grandparents to a special little boy. Their family extends beyond the bounds of blood. They have come to claim many of their children’s and grandchildren’s friends as their own.
Bob was introduced to his heavenly Father in the early seventies. Whether walking the mean streets of Hollywood with Arthur Blessitt’s Ministry, or shaking hands with strangers at Starbucks, he wanted every person to know that Jesus loved them. He was an amazing prayer warrior. When he prayed, you felt the presence of the Lord and had no doubt his petitions were heard by the Father.
Regardless of what Church he was attending, he became the “unofficial” greeter to all who entered the doors. He wanted all to feel welcomed and to know they were loved. Even after Alzheimer’s took his mind, that sweet spirit to make all feel loved by Jesus persevered.
Bob’s pure love for his Lord, his family, and all whose lives he touched will be cherished in our hearts until we meet him again on those golden streets!
Bob is survived by his wife, Kaye; daughters, Becca (Mike) Markley, Rachel Youngman, Eva (Paul) Holt-Minaker; grandchildren, Josh (Abby) Johnston, Meghan (Josh) Newlin, Tyler Youngman, Breanna Youngman, Heaven Holt Minaker, Caleb Holt; and his great grandson, Tristan Youngman.
His father, Ward, mother, Zoma, and son-in-law, Bob Johnston, all greeted him as he entered his heavenly home.
There will be a visitation for Bob held at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home on Thursday, December 19th from 4-7 pm. A funeral service for Bob will be held at the funeral home on Friday, December 20th at 1:00 pm, with another visitation being held one hour prior.
