Russell F. Walden, 81, Kokomo, went home to be with our Heavenly Father January 4, 2011. He was born the youngest of eight children on November 5, 1929 in Mogog, Quebec, Canada to the late William F. Walden and Cora E. (Woodard) Walden.
He served in the Canadian Army, Airborne Infantry. He was selected to come to the U.S. in 1963 to work for Monticello Bobbin Company in Georgia. He loved working with anything in the building trades, but his career took him into administration, where at IUK, he was Director of Physical Plant for 18 years before retiring in 1994. He had many hobbies and interests: woodworking, sign making, computer games, and also ran a small sharpening service out of his garage. His true passion was airplanes. He was a member of Converse Flying Eagles.
He will be dearly missed by his survivors: daughters, Sharon (John) MacGorman of Dallas, Texas and Dean’a (Aaron) Krider of Ft. Wayne, Indiana. Russell’s loving spirit also allowed in his heart an adopted family, Rita (William) Kennedy-Brown and family. All together he loved six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two lovely sisters, Doris of LaPorte, Indiana and Rosalie of Canada.
There will be a private family service held. Memorial donations may be made to the VNS Hospice, 2800 S. Reed Rd., 2nd Floor, Kokomo, IN 46902. Condolences to the family may be made at www.sunsetmemorygarden.com.
