

Ruthie Lee Corbin-Young, 81, of Kokomo, went to be with the LORD at 10:59 AM, Monday October 31, 2016 from St. Vincent Hospital, Kokomo. Born April 16, 1935 in Birmingham, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late Jim Thorner and Betty (Smith) Thorner. She married Fred Young Jr., who preceded her in death. Ruthie was a homemaker who also worked at Forest Park Nursing Home for 7 years. She enjoyed her yardwork and flower gardening. She was a member of the Disciples of Christ Church where she has been a servant of the LORD for over 45 years. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Ruthie is survived by three sons Frankie Young Sr. and Richard Alan Young, both of Kokomo, and Tommy James (Rose) Young of Indianapolis; two daughters Nadine Young of Kokomo and Bessie (George) McIntire of New Jersey; one brother Jim Smith of New Jersey; two sisters Larraine Smith of Georgia and Ella Smith of New Jersey. There are also many grandchildren including Datrell McIntyre, Bruce (Jade) McDonald Jr., Myeasha (Jermaine) Claitt, Stephen Young, and Sharde Young, also many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Ruthie was preceded in death by one son Raymond Young; three daughters Norma Jean Woodard, Theresa Ann Young, and Geraldine Young; two brothers Wade Smith and Willie James Smith; one sister Ella Smith.
Funeral services will be 12:00 Noon Thursday November 10, 2016 at Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church, 1599 East Sycamore Street, Kokomo. Reverend Charles E. Woodard will officiate. Burial will follow at Crown Point Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon Thursday, also at the church. Memorials may be directed to Disciples of Christ Church or Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church, with envelopes available at the church. Ellers Mortuary Main Street Chapel is handling arrangements.
