Obituary of Sandra "Sandy" Louise Chapman
Sandra “Sandy” Louise Chapman, 74, went home to her Lord and Savior September 18, 2018 at 4:23pm at her home in Phoenix, Arizona surrounded by family. Sandy was born in South Bend, Indiana on July 11, 1944 to James Joseph and Lorena Elizabeth (Yates) Bucher. On November 24, 1962 she married Ralph Lee Chapman in South Bend. The divorced after ten years of marriage. She was the loving mother of five children, amazing grandmother to 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She retired from Delco Electronics after 34 years of employment. In her retirement, Sandy enjoyed watching TV, wordfinds and puzzles, solitaire and crocheting. She always has music in her life and loved to sing with her kids and grandkids. Elvis held a special place in her heart; Blue Suede Shoes is her favorite song, but she enjoyed his Gospel music too. Most of all, she loved to spend time with her friends and family. She was loved by all and will be greatly missed. Sandy is survived by three daughters, Renee Shanks, Starr Chapman and April (Jenn) Breeman; 11 grandchildren, Matthew Davis, Amber (Josh ) Farrell, Kayla (Matt) Irvin, Katelyn Shanks, Antonia Pond, Kura Marie (Bo) Bolinger, Christian (Samantha) Rappuhn, DJ (Heather) Rappuhn, Zachary Pittman, Julien Miller and Gabriel Sauerbry;17 great-grandchildren and one more expected in February; her beloved dog, Pepper; 2 sisters, Shirley Snyder and Carol Michels; 1 brother, Thomas Bucher; and a multitude of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Sandy was preceded in death by stepfather Meredith Petty; sister, Sharon Cudney; daughter, Dawn Ward; son, R. Lee Chapman; and grandson, Jeremy Shelby. Family will receive friends Saturday, September 29 at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home, 2097 W. Alto Road, Kokomo, IN 46902 from 11am – 1pm, with service to follow at 1:30pm.
