Sherrie Gay Lewis, a devoted wife, sister, and dedicated healthcare professional, passed away on June 25, 2025, at the age of 52. Born on June 5, 1973, in Kokomo, Indiana, Sherrie's life was marked by her quiet strength and unwavering commitment to helping others.
A graduate of Kokomo High School in 1991, Sherrie went on to serve her country in the United States Army from 1991 to 1994. Following her service, she pursued her passion for nursing and graduated from Indiana University in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Her dedication to her field led her to become a licensed R.N. B.S.N. in the state of Indiana, where she made a significant impact on patient care.
In 2003, Sherrie married Bennette Eugene Lewis III, and together they built a life filled with love and mutual support. Sherrie's professional journey saw her contribute meaningfully at IU Health Methodist in Indianapolis, Indiana, where she was recognized for her expertise as a Certified Stroke Specialist on the A5N floor.
Sherrie's involvement in her community was marked by her charitable contributions and her participation in events such as power walks for multiple sclerosis. Her gentle demeanor and professionalism were evident in every aspect of her life, as she navigated challenges with a calm and composed presence.
Sherrie is survived by her loving husband, Bennette E. Lewis III, and her brother, Kenneth Allen Jr., and nieces and nephews She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth Allen and Wilma Sue (Lyon) Allen, whose memories she cherished deeply.
Family and friends are invited to pay their final respects at the Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home & Cemetery, located at 2097 W Alto Rd, Kokomo, IN 46902, on July 5, 2025. Viewing will be held from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
As we mourn the loss of Sherrie, we are reminded of the profound impact she had on the lives of those around her.
