Shirley June Moore

Shirley June Moore, 90, of Kokomo, Indiana, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2026. She was born on June 1, 1935, in Greencastle, Indiana, the daughter of Ruben Hugh and Mildred Irene (Lewis) Bowman.

Shirley lived a life marked by courage, curiosity, and unwavering faith. A trailblazer in her own right, she became one of the first women to hold a sales position with Ambassador Steel—an accomplishment that reflected her determination and quiet strength. She retired in 1997, but the confidence and resilience she gained during those years remained with her always.

Outside of work, Shirley found joy in the simple pleasures that made life rich: a good book, a home cooked meal shared with loved ones, and the thrill of discovering new places. She was especially proud to have fulfilled her dream of visiting all 50 states, a milestone she reached in 2021.

Above all, Shirley cherished her role as a devoted mother, wife, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her faith was the steady foundation of her life, guiding her through every season. One of her most treasured memories was traveling to Jamaica on a mission trip with her late husband, Edwin, where she shared her love of Christ with others. In recent years, she found deep purpose and community as a member of Kingdom Life Christian Ministries.

Left to honor her memory are her children: Dave, Dan (Kim), Tami Reith (Mike), and Lynn (Meghan).

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Edwin; and her brothers, Dallas and Dale.

The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff of Kokomo Place for the exceptional kindness and care they showed Shirley during her time there. Their compassion brought comfort to both Shirley and her loved ones. A special thank you goes to Rheanna, Shelby, Taylor, and Mel, whose gentle presence and dedication meant so much to her family. They would also like to thank Paradigm Health, specifically Dasha, Dawn and Stephanie who provided wonderful hospice care.

Visitation will be held from 10:00–11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the same location: 2097 West Alto Road, Kokomo, Indiana 46902. Entombment will be private.
