Stan Bounds

Our beloved brother and uncle Stanley Michael Bounds completed his earthly journey on October 23, 2025. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and brothers and sisters in Christ. Stanley was born July 27, 1948 to Freeman and Dorthy (Zeiger) Bounds in Kokomo, Indiana and is survived by his sister, Pamela (Robert) Gilbert, and nieces and nephew Cindy Bounds, Chad Bounds, Jessica (Joshua) Martin, and Stephanie (Aaron) Kane, along with 2 aunts, one uncle, several cousins, 2 great nephews, and one great niece. He was preceded in death by his father and mother in 1991 and 2013, respectively, his brother Gary Bounds in 2019, an infant sister, and one infant nephew.

Stanley was a graduate of Kokomo High School in 1966, and worked for several retail companies, including GC Murphy, Shaffer Distributing, Sears, and Wal Mart before retiring in 2020. He was an active member of Courtland Avenue Church of Christ and had a strong love for Our Savior, Jesus Christ.

His work took him travelling across the Midwest, sparking an interest in Great Lake shipwrecks, and led him to live in the Chicago area for a time before returning to Kokomo. He loved to travel and spend time in the summer visiting with family in Arkansas. He was an avid fan of Kokomo Wildkat basketball, the Seiberling Mansion, and the Haynes Apperson history here at home. His other hobbies were photography, gardening, and US military history. He was also a big supporter of our veterans, giving to organizations like Wounded Warrior Project, and Disabled Vets of America regularly.

Stanley was a man of faith, with a kind soul that liked to help when he could, and was a strong presence in his nieces’ and nephews’ lives growing up. We all loved him for who he was and are thankful for the time we had. His memory will be treasured by those who knew and loved him.

A visitation for Stan will be held Monday, November 10, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Ellers Mortuary & Crematory Center, 3400 S. Webster Street, Kokomo, Indiana 46902, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM.
