After moving to Kokomo in 1998, Val worked at Bert & Johns Tavern. She also worked at The Handle Bar. Val, as everyone knew her, loved her many friends and patrons from her time as a bartender, and all loved her back. She always had a smile on her face and her laugh was infectious to all. She had a listening ear for everyone and never carried her problems to work. Val loved to play Bingo with her best friend and to sit in front of a slot machine at the casinos.
The most rewarding for her was taking care of her grandchildren from birth until school time.
Val loved spending time in her backyard in the pool with family and friends, gardening and growing sunflowers along her backyard fence. Val was a good cook and made a killer pepper sauce salsa that she shared with family and friends.
Val is survived by her loving husband Ken, mother and stepfather Dolly and Dave Swigart, brother Clark (Tony) Gibson (England), stepchildren Jeremy Titus and Lyndsay Fisher, grandchildren Ethan Fisher, Brody Fisher and Willow Rose and extended family Nate and Ashley Fisher (daughters Raylee and Kyalee Summers) and Jimmy Rose.
