Obituary of Wallace Alfred Gebhardt
Wallace A. “Wally” Gebhardt, 86, Logansport, passed away at 10:10 p.m. Thursday, May 17, 2018, in his home surrounded by his family. Born September 12, 1931, in Turner, Montana, he was the son of the late Carl Richard and Katherin “Katie” (Braunstadter) Gebhardt. On October 20, 1957, in the Mexico Baptist Church, he was married to Betty (Burton) Gebhardt, who survives. He was a graduate of the Acme School of Engineering in Chicago. After 33 years, Wally retired from Federal Mogul where he worked as a Manufacturing Engineer. Wally served in the U.S. Navy as an X-Ray Technician during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion Post 60. He enjoyed work and the many friends he made there. Wally attended the Mexico Baptist Church. He was very skilled in woodworking and loved tinkering and building things in his shop. Wally was full of knowledge and loved helping others. He loved his family and enjoyed every moment with them. Surviving with Betty, his wife of nearly 61 years, are sons: Wally (Laurie), Steve (Karla), and Calvin (Toni), all of Logansport; one brother: Richard (Lil); Montana; grandchildren: Wally (Amanda), Aaron (Lindsay), Kim (Jimmy), Kyle (Brooke), Chad (Charmie), Scott (Alicia), Cameron and Jessi; and great-grandchildren: Izzy, Branston, Christopher, Lyla, Eli, Brielle, Jailynn, Daisy and Josie. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Dean and Walter; and a grandson, Edward Gregory. A Funeral Service celebrating the life of Wallace Gebhardt will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 22 in Fisher Funeral Chapel with Pastor Aaron Gross officiating. Burial will follow in Miami Baptist Cemetery with full Military Honors. Friends will be received from 4-8 p.m. Monday evening in the funeral chapel.
