

Wayne Arthur Thompson, 75, Kokomo, passed away on Saturday, February 21, 2015, at his home. He was born June 25, 1939, in New Castle, Pennsylvania, to Clark Arthur and Ruth (Shaw) Thompson. On June 21, 1963, he married Edna Gearline (Rhoton) Thompson, and she survives.
He served in the United States Navy from 1957 to 1962, and later worked at Delco Electronics for 34 years, retiring in 1999. He was a member of UAW Local 292.
In addition to his wife, Edna, he is survived by three daughters, Melissa (Steven) Pier, Laura (John) Weaver, and Shelia Thompson, all of Kokomo; eight grandchildren, Andrew (Ashley) Pier, Alexander (Larissa) Pier, Alyssa Pier, Alexis Pier, Brittany Weaver, Bryan Weaver, Breana Weaver, and Branden Weaver; one great-grandchild, Braylee Gerstorff; one brother, Darrell Thompson, of Kentucky; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clark and Hazel Thompson and Ruth and Jim Turk; four sisters; one son; and one great-grandchild.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home. Visiting hours will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. According to Wayne’s wishes, he will be cremated.
