Weldon Leroy Turnpaugh, age 88, of Kokomo, Indiana died at Community Howard Regional Health on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at the age of 88, surrounded by family. Born to Maurice Turnpaugh and Vera Spohn on June 1,1935 in Logansport, Indiana.
He started working for Chrysler as an electrician in 1961 and retired in 1996. He was a member of UAW Local 685 and a member of the Fraternal order of Eagles. He also enlisted in the Army and was honorably discharged on May 1, 1961. He was a self-taught pianist, playing throughout Indiana. He was a talented wood worker and enjoyed frequenting nearby casinos.
Weldon is survived by his five children, Steven K. Turnpaugh, Michael L. (Mary) Turnpaugh, Teresa Romine, Marla Pelszynski, and Mark A. (Vicki) Turnpaugh; siblings, Ronnie Turnpaugh, Maurice Turnpaugh, Merry Kay Duchateau, and Carla Ann Campbell; two stepchildren, nine grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren, and twenty great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wives, Patricia Ann Turnpaugh and Mary Joann Turnpaugh; siblings, Conrad, Richard, Thomas and Norma Jean; and grandson, Matthew Turnpaugh.
Weldon will be cremated and laid to rest next to Patricia Turnpaugh during a small, private family service. Rich Tucker will officiate and offer a prayer.
