Bill is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marjorie.
He was a proud dad to his children, Bill Jr., Nancy (Tom), and Jason, and proud Grandpa to his grandchildren, Garrett, Anna, and Alexander.
Bill was born in Milford, Indiana and graduated from Milford High School in 1952. He attended Bluffton College and Goshen College. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1956 during the Korean Conflict and served for 2 years before serving 2 years in the Army Reserves and 3 years in the National Guard.
While in the Army, Bill was a computer programmer. He used this experience during his 41-year career at Uniroyal in Mishawaka, IN until he retired in 1999.
Bill loved sports. He played basketball for Milford High School and Bluffton College. He was involved in the organization of the Concord Little League and coached the Astrobowl Junior Bowling League for many years. He was also a lifelong softball player. He played in the Mishawaka Battell League for 25 years and during his retirement, he played summers in Mishawaka and winters in Apache Junction, AZ. When complimented about how well his team played, he laughed, “We’ve been playing for 60 years, we should be good by now!” Bill retired from softball at age 80. Bill was also a long-time fan of Notre Dame football and I.U. basketball.
As per Bill’s wishes, there will be no funeral or memorial service immediately planned. The family will notify loved ones in the future when a celebration of Bill’s life is scheduled.
