
It is with deep sorrow that the family of Carol Ann Furtado announces her passing on May 31, 2025, at the age of 76.
Born on July 8, 1948, Carol dedicated her professional life to Human Resources, spending nearly five decades mentoring employees and supporting the missions of companies such as Kauai Stores, The Waiohai Hotel, and King Auto Center.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Abel and Helen Medeiros, and her late husband, Lani Furtado.
She is survived by her daughters, Michelle Jacintho (Kimo Texeira), Nicole Jacintho (Michael Kali), Melissa Furtado-Kupihea (Aaron Kupihea), her partner, Chala Vidinha, her siblings, Peter (Laura) Medeiros and Suzette (Bill) Kane.
She is also survived by her grandchildren Kimo Texeira Jr., Kalen Texeira, Karri-Lee Texeira, Kaimakani Texeira, Kapena Texeira, Ashley Serraon, Taylor Gushiken, Amaya Kali, Avery Kali, Tyrus Kupihea, Kendra Kupihea, Kai-Lee Kupihea, Wiggy Kupihea, Kimo Kupihea, Kawika Kupihea, as well as 11 great-grandchildren.
Carol’s passing is a profound loss to the many who worked with her, served alongside her in community and government organizations, and, most especially, to her family and friends. She served on numerous boards and commissions throughout her life, including the board of Kauai United Way, where she was a dedicated member since 1989. Her wisdom, leadership, and compassion left a lasting impact on the community she loved.
Services will be held at Borthwick Mortuary in Koloa on Saturday, July 12. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m., followed by the service at 11 a.m. She will be laid to rest at Kauai Veterans Cemetery.
