December 18, 1951 – October 28, 2018
Elizabeth (Liz) Proctor passed away on October 28, 2018 at her home in Lawai. She was 66 years old. Liz was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado on December 18, 1951. She worked as a hair dresser for 40 years and loved to make people beautiful. She was a hairdresser in the salon at Liberty House, Ala Moana and Kukui Grove before opening her own salon “Island Waves...A Hair Salon” in Kappa town. She trained under Paul Mitchell and Vidal Sassoon and became a regional color educator for Wella. She was always working to become better at her craft and mentored several young ladies who wanted to learn her trade. Liz brought her soon to be husband (Terry) to Kauai in 1984. They returned in 1986 and we married at Coco Palms Resort and they permanently relocated to Kauai where she took great pleasure in enjoying the sun, sand, and sea. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Margy Esch of Colorado Springs. She is survived by her loving husband and soulmate Terry Proctor and their golden retriever Mana.
Liz had a contagious personality and loved to laugh, many friends say that she would “light up the room” when she entered. She loved life and people and never had anything bad to say about anyone. She could often be very stubborn but was always very loving, and giving, and ready to help out her friends or neighbors. One of her biggest passions was caring for animals, she always had a pet cat or dog or both, and she frequently contributed to charities that helped endangered species.
Liz was a fun loving person with a spontaneous sense of adventure. She was a free spirit that touched many lives in a positive way. She will be sorely missed by all who had the great fortune of knowing her.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Salt Pond Park on Saturday November 10, at 3:00pm. Pavillion Number 2 the second one from the far west end.
Borthwick Kauai Mortuary assisted with the arrangements.

I was so saddened to hear of Liz
Passing. We were friends for
Over 50 years. We spoke often
And I knew she gave her cancer
One hell of a fight. Unfortunately
She loss that fight. I will miss
Her everyday and will always keep her in my thoughts
Love you Whiz

My deepest condolences to the Proctor family on their great loss. I remember Wizzy as a classmate at Harrison High School here in Colorado Springs. She was always a kind and considerate person, sometimes shy and sometimes loud, but always someone who gave and deserved respect. Although I lost touch with her after high school, she was one of those classmates who always surfaced when thinking about that time in my life. She was that kind of person to leave a lasting impression in such an all too brief period of time. Rest in peace, Wizzy. God bless you and your family!
