Gloria Abella Riopta, 87, passed away on March 4, 2026, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital in Lihue, Kauai. She was born on February 12, 1939, in Tamurang Caoayan, Ilocos Sur, Philippines. She was a retired care home owner.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bonifacio and Brigida Abella. She is survived by her husband, Emigdio Riopta; her children: Rose Narito; Rocky Riopta; Gemma Riopta and Gavin Alao; Gerry Riopta and Margaret Riopta; Richard Riopta and Clarissa Riopta; and Mary Favero and Jason Favero. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday, April 24, 2026, at Saint Catherine Catholic Church in Kapaa, Kauai. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m., followed by Mass to be celebrated at 10:45 a.m. Burial will follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens at 12:15 p.m.
Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kauai Mortuary in Koloa, Kauai.
