It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Jane Wong of Pleasantville, New York, on August 11, 2025. Jane transcended her time on this earth while on the island of Kaua’i, Hawaiʻi, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on August 29, 1955, in Orchard Park, New York, Jane was a devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished friend to many in Pleasantville and beyond. She is survived by Pono, her beloved husband of 42 years; Alex and Jackson, her sons, and their partners. She was predeceased by her parents, John and Emily Geddes, and her brothers, Paul and Peter.
Jane graduated from John Jay High School in Katonah, New York, before earning an Associate’s Degree from the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park. She continued her passion for lifelong learning at Empire State University, where she received her Bachelor of Science degree, and later at Fordham University, where she earned her Master’s Degree in Social Work.
Her love-story and life with Pono spanned several callings: pastry cook, pastry chef, devoted mother, and Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
Alongside her professional and family life, Jane nurtured many passions—gardening, baking, psychodrama, and travel. For more than 30 years, she was a deeply valued and loved member of the Pleasantville Presbyterian Church, serving faithfully in many roles, including as Deacon and Chair of the Board of Deacons.
Jane’s life was a celebration of all that life has to offer, even in its most difficult seasons. Her presence, courage, and example continue to inspire all who knew her. The family wishes to thank the many friends who encouraged and loved Jane, and who now share in our grief and gratitude for the ways she touched our lives.
There will be a celebration of life service on September 20, 2025 at 10:30 am with greetings to begin at 9:00 am. It will be held in person at Pleasantville Presbyterian Church 400 Bedford Rd. Pleasantville, NY 10570. It will also be livestreamed on YouTube at https://youtube.com/live/sfRWjcjDwSY
