On May, 25, 2023, Mark Alan Jimenez passed away at his home in Lihue, surrounded by his family. Mark was born on July 23, 1951 to Eugenio and Pacita Jimenez in Lihue, Hawaii. He was the youngest of four children with two older brothers (Eugene and Ryan) and one sister (Rowena). He was preceded in death by his father Eugenio, his brother Eugene, and his sister Rowena.
Mark was a graduate of Kauai High School, and attended Adams State College in Colorado. Mark was a man of many talents. A great musician, singer, chef, fisherman, diver, and hunter to name a few. He was a man who enjoyed life to its fullest, and the land, water and nature were precious to him. As were the people in his life.
Mark’s great joy in life were his two sons, Matthew and Jacob. Matthew is married to Joanna and his 3 children, Keoni, Alyssa and Amelia. Jacob has a beautiful son named Gabriel. More recently, his daughter Chris and her son Jesse entered his life and brought a newfound dimension of joy and family to his life.
When Mark turned 60, he connected with the love of his life. He spent the last 10 years, in his words, “right where he was supposed to be” – with Madi by his side. And with her, he gained another son named Mark and two more grandsons named Max and Matthew.
Of all of Mark’s job in his life, his career as a fireman and fire captain were what gave him the greatest sense of accomplishment, and the greatest group of lifetime friends. About a week before his passing, a group of firemen came to the house to be with him. I believe it gave him what he really needed, at that very moment.
Over the past years, in spite of his illness, Mark maintained his great love for his family and friends. Thank you all for being a part of his life, for all your support, and for keeping his memory alive.
