

Mrs. Marleen Leilani Kaluahine of Anahola passed away on June 13, 2025, at the age of 85. She was born on a beautiful spring morning, April 11, 1940, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital in Lihue, Kauai, HI. Growing up in a plantation village in Kealia, Kauai, she was surrounded by the rich diversity of ethnicities. With dedication and hard work, she served as an accounts receivables and payables clerk at the Kauai Surf Hotel for many years. She later retired as an office clerk for the Department of Education.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joao "Johnny Cowboy" and Harriet Kaui Ornellas; her husband, Saint Mathew Kaluahine; her daughter, Tanya Ann Kaluahine; her granddaughter, Tanya Kaleikaumaka Kaluahine; her grandson Kingston Keahi Kalihilihiokala Kaluahine Juarez;her sons-in- law, Vance Juarez and Junicio Cacal; her brother, John Ornellas Jr.; and her sisters, Madeline Yokoyama, Beverly Valpoon and her hanai son Cole Forsen.
Mrs. Kaluahine is survived by her daughters, Sherry Kaluahine- Cacal, H. Tweety Juarez, and Pam (Teddy) Arroyo, as well as her son, Matthew "Kamalei" (Jenna) Kaluahine. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and thirteen great- grandchildren, as well as her brothers, Raymond (Valerie) Ornellas, Michael (Nora) Ornellas, Stanley "Haole Boy" (Caroline) Ornellas, James "Kimo" (Bernie) Ornellas, and George "Keoki" Ornellas, and her sister, Evelyn Takenaka.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate her remarkable life on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Kapaa. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m., followed by the service at 10:00 a.m. A private burial will honor her legacy at the Keahapana Family Cemetery. The family requests that attendees wear aloha attire.
