Mary Sue Matter, a long time resident of Koloa and Kekaha, Kauai, Hawaii passed away December 9th, 2025 at Garden Isle Hospice at Wilcox Memorial Hospital in Lihue. She was a long time employee of Niihau Ranch and was also a college Japanese professor. Mary was born on May 13, 1942 in Tampa, Florida. She is survived by one son, COL U. S. Army, (ret) Matthew D. Matter (Kristan) of Fallon, Nevada, grandchildren Jacqueline Matter of Washington D.C., Alexandria Matter of Harrisonburg, Virginia, and Elijah Matter of Fallon, Nevada. Celebration of life will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kauai Hospice or the Kauai Salvation Army. Arrangements by Borthwick Mortuary Kauai.
