Susan "Suzie" Sonia Efhan was called home to her Creator on January 6, 2025, at the age of 67. Suzie was a radiant soul, cherished for her extraordinary ability to bring comfort to those in need, her infectious laughter, healing hugs, and her unwavering strength and compassion.
Suzie was born on May 4, 1957, to Mercedes “Mercy” and Inocencio “Sancho” Efhan on Oahu, and later moved to Kauai in 1969. A lover of the earth, Suzie had a remarkable green thumb—creating gardens that multiplied and thrived effortlessly under her care, reflecting the nurturing spirit that defined her life.
Suzie’s legacy is carried on by her children: Waynette Parraga, Tina Parraga, Kai (Kawai) Parraga, and Vanessa Parraga; her grandchildren: Jaxson Najarian, Keleko Parraga-Alejandro, Keaka Parraga-Alejandro, Wayne Parraga, Kala'i Parraga, Wynter Rose Parraga, and Waryn Parraga; her siblings: Bernie (Harlan) Nakae, Sherrie Efhan, Val Yadao, Lulu (Wilbert) Cummings, Teo Efhan, and Aaron (Janis) Efhan; and a vast ʻohana and hānai ʻohana.
A celebration of Suzie’s life will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 2 PM at the Salt Pond Main Pavilion. A sunset viewing will follow. Her family invites all who knew and loved her to join in honoring her.
In lieu of flowers, Suzie’s family kindly requests donations be made in her name to the Kauai Independent Food Bank, a cause close to her heart where she volunteered during her younger years.
While we grieve the absence of her physical presence, we take comfort in knowing her bright light continues to guide us. Suzie’s wish was for her loved ones to always be blessed with the best life has to offer. She’d reminded us that the most precious things in life are the people you hold dear, not things.
