
Vivencio Franklin "Frank" Villaflor passed away peacefully at his home in Hanamaulu, Kauai, on July 29, 2026, at the age of 80.
Born on November 24, 1945, in Lihue, Kauai, Frank was raised in the McBryde Camp in Numila. He graduated from Waimea High School in 1963 and attended Kauai Technical School. He worked as a journeyman welder and concrete batcher and will be remembered for his strong work ethic, integrity, and unwavering love for his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vivencio Calma Villaflor and Dolores Batis Villaflor, and his sister, Norma V. McDonald.
Frank is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, LaVerne Jacinto Villaflor; daughters Janell "Cookie" (Larry Jr.) Kopesky, Crystal (Josh) Walters, and Rona (Shawn August) Villaflor; grandchildren Lia, Tony, Kaʻililaola, Lilinoe, Makoa, and Hiʻilawe; siblings Vanessa (Jeff) Bobiles and Allan Keone Villaflor; niece Frances McDonald Bartolome; and nephew Shawn McDonald.
He is also survived by his aunts Helen Ariola, Marie Ceballos, and Juanita Parongao, as well as many cousins, relatives, and friends.
The family extends a very special mahalo and heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Monty Downs and the nurses and staff of Kauai Hospice for the compassionate care and loving support they provided throughout his journey.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, September 4, 2026, at Borthwick Kauai Mortuary. Visitation begins at 10 AM, followed by services at 11 AM.
