

Born to David and Rita Wasdahl on December 21, 1956, in Bakersfield, California, Alan's life was a testament to the power of passion, creativity, and love. His family's relocation to San Diego, California, set the stage for a life filled with purpose and adventure. After graduating from Crawford High School in 1974, Alan embarked on a journey that would take him to incredible heights. He married Susan Diane Harkins in 1979, and together they welcomed a daughter, Allison, in September 1983.
Alan's talents as a craftsman were evident in everything he touched. He joined the carpenters Union, where he thrived, doing what he loved. His passion for building and creating was only rivalled by his love for the ocean. You could often find him at the beach, catching waves and soaking up the sun.
Alan's generosity and hospitality inspired countless gatherings and celebrations. From bonfires on the beach to impromptu cookouts, his home was always open to friends and family. His love for exploration took him on countless adventures with Susan, and young daughter, Allison, discovering hidden gems and making memories that would last a lifetime.
Even in his quiet moments, Alan's creativity shone through. He attended the IPSB (Institute of Psycho-structural balancing) school of massage with his wife, embodying his passion for learning and growth. His talents knew no bounds, from designing the Union Tribune to crafting elaborate car rallies, and ultimately, creating a breathtaking Tiki Oasis in his backyard.
After Alan and Susan's divorce, their friendship continued to flourish, a testament to the power of love and respect. Alan's life took on new dimensions when he started dating Kailani Andreotti in 2003. Together, they embarked on a new journey, exploring the world of Tiki culture and mixology. Their love for adventure took them to countless Tiki bars, events, and concerts, always seeking the next great experience.
Alan's legacy is a testament to the impact one person can have on the lives of others. He will be deeply missed by his mother, Rita; daughter, Allison; girlfriend, Kailani; former wife, Susan; brother, Mark; nephews, Taylor, Andrew, Dylan, and Pierce; niece, Bridget; and grandchildren, Aspen and Koa. Though his father, David, preceded him in peace, Alan's memory will live on, inspiring generations to come.
