Allen Francis Normand

Allen Francis Normand, Husband, Father, Grandfather, Uncle, Brother, died unexpectedly at his home in La Mesa, California following minor surgery. He was 85. Allen was born in Grafton, North Dakota, the first son and 4th child of eleven. He was the April Fool’s son after three daughters. Mr. Normand joined the Air Force in 1951 as a pilot trainee. After his Air Force career he attended Grant Technical College in Sacramento where he met Violet Mary James. They were married in June, 1955. Allen and Violet raised 7 children over the course of their 56 year marriage. Violet died on October 18, 2011. In addition, they enjoyed the births of 14 grandchildren. Allen was an engineer for over 40 years with Aerojet General, Bell Aerospace, General Dynamics, HydroProducts, Rohr, Inc. and the owner/consultant for PSSA, a La Mesa Consulting firm. He was an avid gardener, a professional figure skater (who once skated with Peggy Fleming) and loved his many grandchildren, by birth or association. He also loved to travel and loved music, even singing songs with his daughter and son-in-law until his sudden death on Wednesday.
