She died peacefully at the family home in La Mesa where she had lived with daughter Theresa (Teri) and son-in-law Bob Cluck for eight years.
Beatrice and her five siblings grew up on a potato farm in upstate New York, where she learned the values of hard work, perseverance, and family devotion - lessons that shaped the remarkable life she would go on to lead.
She met and married the love of her life, US Marine Captain Jess Jessen, and together they traveled the world while raising their three children: Ray, Theresa, and Mary; wherever they lived Beatrice created a home filled with love, warmth and creativity.
She had a full and vibrant life, marked most by her deep love of family, unwavering spiritual beliefs and passion for helping others.
In mid-life she took on the challenge of becoming an ordained minister in the Unity Church and presided at joyous occasions such as baptisms and weddings, while also counseling hundreds of all generations seeking her guidance.
Her favorite pastimes were painting and playing chess with her dearest and devoted friend Helen .
She loved animals of all kinds and nature in all its forms.
She baked her famous 'Gam' cookies, molasses and ginger, for her grandchildren.
She was an accomplished artist, author, seamstress and she crocheted scarves, hats, blankets, and hand painted cards and loved giving them as gifts.
Watching movies was a favored pastime, and her theatre seat was a leather reclining chair, often with a roaring fire nearby kept well-tended by Bob in the winter with a small glass of wine for their 'happy hour.'
In addition to Theresa and Bob, Beatrice is survived by 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 5 great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by Ray, Mary, and Jess Jessen.
