Obituary of Carolina Palmira (Tavolazzi) Casanova
Carolina Palmira Casanova was a beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Great-Great Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, and Friend. Carolina was the daughter of Enrico and Santina Tavolazzi born in Calexico, California on September 20, 1932 and passed away on January 19, 2022 in San Diego California. Carolina is survived by her husband Robert Casanova, two children and their spouses, 3 sisters, 2 brothers, 7 Grandchildren and their spouses, 13 Great-grandchildren, and one Great-great-grandchild. Her family will miss her tremendously; she is loved, and her spirit will live on through them. Carolina grew up in Calexico, California on a ranch her parents ran named Tavolazzi Dairy. She grew up helping her parents in anyway she could, from milking cows at a very young age to helping take care of her 8 younger brothers and sisters. Her caring nature did not stop there, she never hesitated to lend a helping hand. She attended school at Mt. Signal, Rockwood Junior High, and graduated from Calexico High in 1951. From 1948-1953 you could find Carolina at Fox Theatre or attending a Calexico sporting event. She loved to dance and was very popular among her friends. In 1951 she was named Imperial Valley Fair Queen and in 1952 she was Ms. Calexico. This is how she got her nickname of “Queena”. On February 26, 1954 she married Robert, a star athlete in Calexico and her High School sweetheart. They eloped to Gretna Green Wedding Chapel in Yuma, Arizona to wed. A few years and two children later the family decided to move to San Diego, California. Carolina was a remarkable woman, a perfect combination of warmth and kindness with just enough spunk and stubbornness. She loved to crochet, dance, bowl, play bingo, attend the horse races, shop, cook, and attend any event her family was a part of. Her greatest love was taking care of her family and making others feel special. She watched and cared for anyone and everyone, anyone that needed help she was there. She will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her. P.S. Queena, thank you for 68 beautiful years of marriage. Love you always, Cass A visitation for Carolina will be held Tuesday, January 25, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Erickson-Anderson Mortuary, 8390 ALLISON AVE, LA MESA, CA 91942.
