Gene was a good friend and colleague. He loved being a company president and received national recognition for his leading financial success beyond 70 other Consolidated Graphics Presidents.  He was rightfully proud, yet also modest, and generously offered praise of others when earned. 
He contacted me a few months ago when I retired and we had a long and enjoyable conversation.
Bonnie and I send our best to Linda and the rest of his family which he loved above all else. They will naturally miss him even more than the rest of us.

As a company President spanning many decades, Gene’s leadership and guidance paved a pathway to success and prosperity for those that worked with him. His charismatic approach to business and fierce commitment to achievement were unmistakable. Gene will undeniably be remembered as an esteemed colleague, friend, and mentor. For those that knew him well, he’ll be more remembered as an adoring husband, father, and grandfather who always had a sparkle in his eye when recalling moments shared with his family. For those lives that he touched, Gene will hold a place in our memories forever.

I’m so sorry to hear of the passing of Gene Valles. He gave me the opportunity to be his secretary for three years at Rush Press when I made a career change in my 50’s. I will always be grateful for that kindness. To his family and friends I send my sincere condolences.
