Helen Esperanza Valderrama

It is with great sadness that the family of Helen E. Valderrama, 82, announces her peaceful passing on July 8, 2024 in San Diego, CA. Helen was born on April 20th, 1942 in Lemon Grove, CA to Marcelina Bonilla and Juan Bonilla. Helen attended Helix High School and Sweetwater High School. After high school, Helen graduated from Mesa Community College with her AA in Child Development. Anyone who knew Helen knows her love for children. She was the Director of a HeadStart Preschool in San Diego in the late 1970s. She took a hiatus to raise her only child, Marcelina Valderrama. Helen went back to work when her and her niece, Mona, opened up their own resale shop, Phase II. Helen then joined the county of San Diego in the Child Support Department where she eventually retired. In her retirement, she helped raise her grandchildren Miyanna Valderrama, Eddy and Eli Gomez. Helen is survived by her brother, Henry Bonilla, daughter Marcelina Valderrama, son in law Dennis White, grandchildren Miyanna Valderrama, Eddy Gomez, Eli Gomez and Makaya White. Helen was the happiest when she was with her family. She never missed Sunday Mass and was a devout Catholic. Her kindness knew no bounds and she will be greatly missed.
