Janet Hallas, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on September 3, 2023, at the age of 89. Born in San Diego on July 10, 1934, Janet shared her life's journey with her twin sister, Helen, as they both graduated from Grossmont High School.
In a serendipitous twist of fate, Janet's life changed forever when she met her husband, Andy, on a blind double date at the beach. They married in September 1952 and together raised two sons and one daughter. Janet's warmth and generosity extended beyond her immediate family, as she opened her heart and home to host foreign exchange students, enriching the lives of young people from around the world.
Janet was the cornerstone of her family, helping raise her eight grandchildren, who later blessed her with four great-grandchildren. Her culinary skills were legendary, and her home in Lemon Grove was the gathering place for countless family holidays and summer picnics, where her delicious meals and desserts were savored by all. Janet's love for animals, especially dogs, was evident to anyone who knew her, and she had an undeniable weakness for anything chocolate.
