Louis John Vermeule

Louis J Vermeule was born on May 7th, 1929. He died on October 5th, 2024, at ninety-five years of age. Louis was born in Vlissingen, Netherlands, the middle son of 11 children. Celebration of life will be held at Erickson-Anderson Mortuary on Thursday, October 24, 2024, at 11AM. Flowers may be sent to 8390 Allison Avenue, La Mesa Ca 91942. Louis is survived by his wife of 68 years Maria, his son John, granddaughters Roxanna and Vanessa along with 5 great grandchildren. He is also survived by two of his ten siblings Louis grew up during WW2 in the Netherlands and lost his mother during the war. When the war ended, he was recruited into the military for the campaign in Indonesia. After he returned, he went to the southern part of the Netherlands and began working as a baker. This is where he met his wife, Maria. The got married and moved to the United States. Louis worked in the bakery business till his mid-fifties, and then started doing handyman work. He did this till his early eighties. He loved to fix things and would often be in the garage tinkering with something. Louis also liked horse racing and trips to Vegas. He enjoyed walking around the neighborhood and talking to all the neighbors. He passed peacefully surrounded by family.
