

Marjorie “Twisty” (Foster) Steele died after a long period of illness on July 15, 2015, one day short of her 90th birthday. Born in Nuyaca, Oklahoma to Edna “Ed” and Maudie Foster, she attended Nuyaca High School where she played center on the pee wee basketball team. On December 4, 1943 she married Archie Steele of San Diego and relocated there after WWII. As a child, Margie took piano lessons and played accompaniment for several of the area churches, and in her later years enjoyed having sing alongs with her granddaughters. Margie was an excellent cook and enjoyed seeking out and trying new recipes. She also enjoyed making pine needle baskets and won best in show at the San Diego Del Mar Fair in 1986 for her pine needle basket purse. Other hobbies included gardening, and sewing. Margie is survived by her husband Archie Steele, son and daughter in law Arch and Kathy Steele, brother Freddie Foster, and granddaughters Susan (Jonathan) Osgood and Jennifer Steele. Margie was preceded in death by her siblings Robert Foster, Evelyn Foster, Garland Foster, and Mary Ellen Knight. Services will be held at Miramar National Cemetery on July 23, 2015 at 9:30 AM.
