Marvin Gerald Brady

January 23, 1945October 23, 2018

Marvin Gerald Brady was our amazing husband, father, grandfather and friend. He passed away at the ripe old age of 73, but far too early for those of us that loved him dearly.

He was born to William and Lillian Brady at Quintard Hospital in San Diego on January 23, 1945. He graduated from Lincoln High School in San Diego class of 1963. He was a TKE at San Diego State University, graduating in 1968 with a teaching credential and a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration.

He married his college sweetheart, Tina Simpson and they settled in La Mesa. They had two children Kelly Cristelle (Brady) Wedbush married to Gary Wedbush and Jason Anthony Brady married to Shannon Lewis (Brady).

Marvin taught math and PE at Hale Jr. High and math/ computer science at Gompers Secondary School. He retired after 34 years dedicating many hours to students in class and in extra curricular activities and sports.

Grandpa Brady has 7 grandchildren, Lilly, Brady, Henry, Ruby and Quincy Wedbush and Gaven and Taylor Brady. They will never forget his funny jokes or his beautiful smile.

When I saw Kelly's facebook page, my heart broke a little. Our parents were good friends at SDSU - our dads were fraternity brothers and our moms were sorority sisters so it was just meant to be that Kelly and I become sorority sisters at UCLA. Kelly was my "big sister" at Kappa always looking out for me, showing me the ropes on campus and always had my back. She is generous in spirit, fiercely loyal and was a good friend to me. She is all of these things because of her dad (and mom). My memories of Marvin aren't many but his presence has been in my life daily - the picture attached is from a dad's day event at UCLA where Marvin, Kelly, me and my dad (Kenny Jones) attended a UCLA football game. I see this picture in my house every single day and it always makes me smile. I will not be able to make the service this week but I will continue to smile when I see this photo today, tomorrow and the next...Sending prayers and hugs from San Francisco. Love - Courtney

Mr. Brady was an amazing teacher who truly cared for his students and always made his classroom at Gompers a safe and welcoming place. I'm so very sorry to hear the news of his passing. Please know he made an indelible mark on those of us who were lucky enough to have him for a teacher. I remember him with incredible fondness. He made a difference in many lives.

I had the pleasure of working with Marv at Gompers with Joanne, Greg Hans Lee and Dave. I am back in NY but will always remember the great times we had at Gompers. My sincere condolences.
