Mary Ann was born on February 22, 1935 in St. Louis, Missouri to the late Reinhold Poppitz Sr. and Esther Poppitz (Schoen). Her older brother, Reinhold Poppitz Jr., passed away in 2020.
She had been married to Gerhard (Gary) W.F. Harms for over 72 years. When they had first seen each other, they both told their friends they were going to marry. They have lived out their marriage oath to the Lord - for better, for worse, in sickness and in health, as Gary cared for her for the last several years as she got weaker.
Before her health declined, Mary Ann enjoyed singing in the church choir for many years and had played the organ and piano as well. She had a love of music and enjoyed listening to CDs of hymns while she was bedridden.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Gary, and six children, Gloria Stverak of Ft. Wayne, IN, Mark Harms of Carl Junction, MO, Marcia Olson of Pensacola, FL, Glen Harms of Springfield, MO, Matthew Harms of Norway, MI, and Gena Champlin of Oceanside, CA and sixteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She is in heaven now with her oldest daughter, Marilyn Harms, who died in 1967.
Mary Ann loved the Lord and was ready to be with Him. She is now enjoying her new healthy body, rejoicing with friends and family who are already in heaven, and getting to be in the arms of her Savior…all “In His Time.”
