

Born in Iowa to Charles and Christine (“Peggy”) Lotspeich, Mary Jo lived a life defined by devotion to family, friendship, and service. After graduating from Mary Crest College in Iowa, she joined the US Navy where she met and married Roy Frederick (“Fred”) Stalder, Jr. She devoted herself to Fred's career and their family, making homes in California, Virginia, and Hawaii with the last 52 years in La Mesa, CA.
Mary Jo was known for creating a warm and welcoming home, and honored her Catholic faith, attending Santa Sophia Catholic church where she made many treasured friends and enjoyed singing with the choir. An avid sports fan, she cheered on the USC Trojan football team and loved San Diego Padre games. She will be fondly remembered for her feisty independence and resourcefulness, her love of friends and family, and the joy she found in cooking and gardening. Her steady and caring presence enriched the lives of all who knew her and leaves a lasting legacy that will continue through the family she loved so deeply.
Mary Jo was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Fred. She is survived by her three children, Rick (Julie) Stalder, Christine Julie Stalder, and Liz (Kelly) Rogers; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren, all of whom were blessed by her love and guidance.
