Rosemarie “Ro” Price passed away peacefully on April 5, 2024. She was diagnosed with asthma at the age of 16 and battled with the disease until her death. Despite acute asthma, she was committed to taking care of and helping others and she lived a full and meaningful life.
Ro loved her family. She worked tirelessly to provide support and tended to her husband without fail when he became ill. Ro cared deeply for those around her and had a tremendous passion for assisting others. She was always concerned about friends and family and would drop everything to help in their time of need. She was also a devout Roman Catholic.
Ro was born in Erie, Pennsylvania on May 31, 1943, to Rose G. Hagmann and Joseph D. Halder. Ro had two older brothers, Joe and Ron, and a younger brother Bob. She attended Sacred Heart School and Villa Maria Academy in Erie. At 16, she moved to Southern California with her family and graduated from Eisenhower High School. Ro went on to attend junior college but left to take care of her ailing mother.
She later went to work at TRW and proudly contributed to the space program. She was a secretary and helped to facilitate the transcription of critical documents. She always said that working at TRW was one of the highlights of her life. She loved being a part of a program that made history. It was there that she met the love of her life, Ron Price. Ron was a Management Systems Analyst working in the same office. He proposed on April 1, 1967, and they were married on June 24, 1967.
Ro loved Ron’s three beautiful children who live in Utah – Julie, Dianna, and Ronnie, and enjoyed seeing them when she had the opportunity. And while she was a beloved Aunt to many nieces and nephews, she was excited to start a family of her own. Ro and Ron had two girls, Michelle in 1969 and Tamara in 1970. She cherished being a stay-at-home Mom but went back to work when Ron became very ill. She worked hard to make sure that her family had everything they needed. She compassionately cared for Ron through the remainder of his life. Ron passed away on December 5, 1997.
Ro later moved to San Diego to be close to her daughter Tamara. Not surprisingly Ro took a job at a mobility consulting firm that’s mission was to help people who were disabled. She continued helping those with disabilities until she retired in 2008.
Ro’s favorite role, however, was being a Grandma. She would regularly drive to Pasadena to help her daughter Michelle and take care of her grandkids, Maddie and Jimmy. Soon her Grammie duties expanded when Will and Lucie were born to her daughter Tamara in San Diego. Over the years she also delighted in seeing her grandkids who lived in Utah and was always excited to attend Price family reunions in Samaria, Idaho. Grandkids were the highlight of her life. She loved them all immensely.
Ro made an impact on everyone who knew her, and her memory will live on in their hearts. She was an amazing hostess for the holidays and for summer soirees. She loved to vacation, and camping was a must a few times a year. She made getaways special with meticulous meal planning and scrumptious brownies and Rice Krispie treats. For those of us who knew her well, she will be remembered for her love of family, her faith, good parties, family reunions, Elvis Presley, Country music, delicious margaritas, and cold beer. She will be greatly missed by all.
Ro was preceded in death by her husband Ron Price and her brother Ron Halder, and is survived by her daughter Michelle Brooks and her husband Jim, her daughter Tamara DeBeliso and her husband Dan, and her grandchildren Maddie, Jimmy, Will, and Lucie, as well as her brothers Joe and Bob Halder. She is also survived by her extended family in Utah - Julie Clifford, Dianna Remkes, Ronnie Price, and their beautiful children.
Her family would like to thank all of those who have helped Ro in her time of need these past few years. She appreciated everything you did for her, and you will always have a special place in her and our hearts. Ro’s funeral will be held in San Diego, CA in June 2024, and she will be buried in Samaria, Idaho next to her beloved husband Ron. Details are forthcoming. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ro’s memory to the American Lung Association at www.lung.org.
