Stacey was born and raised in Portsmouth, VA. She attended Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA, working nights while attending school full-time with a focus on computers. She became a resident of San Diego in the late 80’s and was employed at Intuit since 1990.

Stacey loved the ocean and the beach, cats and mermaids, and the Grateful Dead. But that was no match for the love that she had for her beloved husband Dana. She was a free spirit and believed everyone should be loved and respected. She was a kind and sentimental person who was completely unaware of the impact she had on everyone she met. Her smile was infectious! If you were her friend, she was there for you through thick and thin. She believed in manners and courtesy and treating others as she wished to be treated. Her compassion and empathy was extended to animals and people alike. She believed in working hard and being loyal to those she cared about. Her usual parting words were “Love Ya!” and a generous heartfelt hug.

Stacey is predeceased by her parents Robert H White Jr. (Papa) and Sarah Bowers White, as well as her beloved husband and soul mate Dana R. Cottrell. Together they lived life and enjoyed it to the fullest. Stacey is survived by her sister Dolores Moore (and husband Rad) of The Villages, FL, her niece Kimberly Pate of Suffolk, VA, her nephews Ashland (Candace) White and Zachary White of Sacramento, and four great nieces. As well as a large extended family of cousins, friends, and co-workers. How happy Stacey must be now, to be back with Dana and her beloved parents.

A memorial service will be held on July 18 at 9:00 am at Miramar National Cemetery and post-service gathering information to follow. Arrangements are through Erickson-Anderson Mortuary in La Mesa CA. In lieu of flowers, please give to your favorite animal shelters or veterans associations in Stacey’s memory.

To Stacey's family, I have known Stacey for 30 years having worked with her at ChipSoft and Intuit. We were part of several teams together as co-workers and my employee. She grew so much as a person and was kind to everyone.

She was so dedicated and hardworking. Always trying to help others on the team or other teams we interacted with.

I will always have fond memories of taking walks, Friday socials, after tax-season trips and lunches together.

My family will miss her greatly but will always have her in our hearts.

I worked with Stacey for 24+ years at Intuit. In that time she helped release thousands of Intuit tax products for our development teams to TurboTax customers. Stacey and my wife worked together, many hours to make it happen. She’ll be missed. Our deepest condolences to her family.

Stacey was and will always be one of my personal inspirations to be a better person. She always had time to chat with me, laughed at my awkward (oftentimes wildly inappropriate) jokes and never failed to remind me that she cared about me as a person.

I will miss her bright and loving spirit and her kind words. There are not enough words to capture what a truly wonderful person she was.

I will truly miss Stacey. We worked at Intuit for quite a while but most recently we were able to meet weekly during the Release Coordination meetings she led. More importantly, were the times we both stayed behind when the meetings were over to chit chat about life and take a break from the busy day ahead. Those times were precious memories I will carry with me - her infectious smile, carefree attitude and genuine caring about the company, the product, and especially the people. Stacey's presence just made you want to smile and enjoy life even more. May she rest in peace. I'm sure she's happy to rest w/her hubby :)

My beloved Sister. Your leaving has left a hole in our family that will never be filled. I can still hear you running down the hallway growing up yelling " Hey Sissy!" when you had something you wanted to share with me. Because of the difference in our ages, I had to be ready whenever I had a date or I would find you sitting in his lap with one arm around the back of his neck just chattering away. You could throw a hissy fit when you were little like nobody's business. Such a brat! But you became a beautiful woman with the soul of an angel when you grew up. Your kindness, empathy and love were so deep and true for everyone you cared about and every creature you encountered. I'm so happy that you and Dana are together again as I know your heart and spirit were crushed at his loss. And I know you are thrilled to be with our parents and other family members we lost before you. Know that we miss you and love you every day even though we are temporarily separated, and will see you again some day. "Love ya'!" Dolores
