Stacey was born and raised in Portsmouth, VA. She attended Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA, working nights while attending school full-time with a focus on computers. She became a resident of San Diego in the late 80’s and was employed at Intuit since 1990.
Stacey loved the ocean and the beach, cats and mermaids, and the Grateful Dead. But that was no match for the love that she had for her beloved husband Dana. She was a free spirit and believed everyone should be loved and respected. She was a kind and sentimental person who was completely unaware of the impact she had on everyone she met. Her smile was infectious! If you were her friend, she was there for you through thick and thin. She believed in manners and courtesy and treating others as she wished to be treated. Her compassion and empathy was extended to animals and people alike. She believed in working hard and being loyal to those she cared about. Her usual parting words were “Love Ya!” and a generous heartfelt hug.
Stacey is predeceased by her parents Robert H White Jr. (Papa) and Sarah Bowers White, as well as her beloved husband and soul mate Dana R. Cottrell. Together they lived life and enjoyed it to the fullest.
Stacey is survived by her sister Dolores Moore (and husband Rad) of The Villages, FL, her niece Kimberly Pate of Suffolk, VA, her nephews Ashland (Candace) White and Zachary White of Sacramento, and four great nieces. As well as a large extended family of cousins, friends, and co-workers.
How happy Stacey must be now, to be back with Dana and her beloved parents.
A memorial service will be held on July 18 at 9:00 am at Miramar National Cemetery and post-service gathering information to follow. Arrangements are through Erickson-Anderson Mortuary in La Mesa CA.
In lieu of flowers, please give to your favorite animal shelters or veterans associations in Stacey’s memory.
