Born in San Diego on August 20, 1945, Susan spent her life caring for others and helping young minds grow. She taught elementary school for 36 years, touching the lives of generations of students with patience, kindness, and dedication.
Susan was married to Chuck McKeown, a local realtor, whose death preceded hers by ten years. Together, they shared a life rooted in their San Diego community.
She is lovingly remembered by her sister, Valerie Shields, and her brother, Gordon Scott Shields, who bid her a heartfelt and loving farewell. She was the daughter of Gordon and Olwyn Shields.
