Born on November 19, 1944, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to Jasper and Eloise White, Thaddeus was raised in Metairie, Louisiana, in Bunche Village, where the roots of his steady character and quiet strength were formed alongside his siblings: Anne Mae White Poplus (deceased), Jacqueline White Young (deceased), Elois White Burton (deceased), Jasper White Jr. (deceased), Yvette White (deceased), Lynette White, Leonard White, Larry White, and Vanessa White Jones.
He was a man best described as strong, gentle, and patient, known for his calm presence and his ability to fix just about anything, whether it was a machine, a problem, or simply a moment that needed an even keel.
Thaddeus proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1962 to 1987, a commitment that reflected his discipline, loyalty, and sense of duty. After his military service, he continued a life of hard work and integrity, serving as a Field Supervisor for South Central Bell/AT&T, an Industrial Machinist for Pellerin Milnor, and later as a Bus Driver for Greyhound. No matter the role, he took pride in doing things right and doing them well.
Above all else, family mattered most to him.
Thaddeus shared a profound and enduring love story. He was first married to Deidre P. White on August 28, 1971, and together they built a life rooted in love until her passing on February 7, 2004. In 2005, life brought him back to his first love from his time in the Navy, Rose T. White, and they were married on August 1, 2005, sharing the remainder of his life together until his passing. Both loves shaped the man he was, and both were deeply held in his heart.
He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Rose T. White, and his children: Lonnie L. Fields, Jr. (Kassandra), Aqeel El-Amin (Jatonne), Margaret Harris (Timothy Harris), and Angelique White-Miller (Michael-Paul); along with his grandchildren, Karrisa Harris, Timothy Harris, Jr., Lonnie L. Fields III, Maya Fields, Amber Smith, Kaya Allen, Khalil El-Amin, Sanaa El-Amin, and Amel El-Amin; as well as extended family and all those whose lives were made better by knowing him.
Thaddeus will be remembered as a man who loved well and was deeply loved in return. His legacy lives on through the family he built, the lessons he quietly taught, and the steadiness he gave to everyone around him.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, January 23, 2026, at Erickson-Anderson Mortuary, located at 8390 Allison Ave, La Mesa, CA 91942. A private burial ceremony will take place at Miramar National Cemetery at a later date, to be determined by the family. There will also be a Memorial Service in New Orleans, with details forthcoming.
He will be deeply missed.
Fair winds and following seas.
