Thomas Edward Cunniff, a beloved husband, uncle, teacher, and dear friend, passed away on August 6, 2006, leaving behind a lifetime of cherished memories and a legacy of love.
Born on June 10, 1949, Tom was born and raised in Medford, Massachusetts. He later made his home in La Mesa, California, where he was a long-standing and beloved member of the community.
Tom earned his bachelor’s degree and began his professional career as a history teacher, sharing his love of history and learning with his students. Tom found great joy in the simple things in life, especially gardening. He loved tending to his garden and watching things grow. His beloved dog, Nikki, was also a very special part of his life and brought him great companionship and happiness.
Tom was preceded in death by his beloved husband, Bill Biss; his parents, Joseph and Mary Cunniff; and his brothers, Bob Cunniff and Richard Cunniff.
He is lovingly remembered by his many nieces and nephews, Tara Capuano and her husband John, Samantha Burrill, Marybeth Cherry and her husband Chris, Erin Cunniff, and KC Schlosser and her husband Brady, Shawn Cunniff, Mitch Poole, Apollo Poole, Emilie Poole, Larson Poole and his wife Berenice, Helena Poole, Freya Poole, sister-in-law Claudette Poole ; and so many extended family members, and friends who were fortunate enough to know and love him.
Though Tom left this world far too soon, his memory lives on in the hearts of those who knew him. He will be remembered for his love of gardening, kindness, laugh, sense of humor, devotion to those he loved, and the special place he held within his family and dear friends.
May he rest peacefully, surrounded forever by the love and memories he left behind.
