Verna Jeannette Miller

Verna J. Nelson Miller – Handley went home to be with the Lord Monday July 21, 2014 at Skyline Hospice in Apple Valley CA. Verna passed with a smile on her face. Verna was born in Roseau MN to the late Albert E and Hildie Nelson on May 14, 1926. Verna spent her formative years in Roseau and moved to San Diego California in the mid 40’s. Verna worked at Convair where she met her first Husband Harold H Miller. Verna was active at La Mesa First Baptist Church and later at Del Cerro Baptist Church. Verna and Harold remained married until Harold’s passing in 1989. Verna continued her service to the Lord thru singing in the choir, teaching Sunday School and volunteering for service organizations. Verna married Bill Handley in 2000. Verna suffered her entire life from Type 1 Diabeties. Verna is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, three brothers, and her first husband Harold. Verna is survived by her husband Bill Handley, daughters Leanne and Pamela, three grand children and three great grand children.

A Celebration of Verna will be held on Monday July 28 at 1100 am at Del Cerro Baptist Church 5512 Pennsylvania Lane, La Mesa, CA 91942-1122 (619) 460-2210 [email protected]. The family requests in lieu of flowers contributions be sent to Del Cerro Baptist Church Missions Fund.
