Vivian was born on May 14, 1954 at Guam’s Memorial Hospital in Tamuning to her loving parents Vicente & Maria Rosario. At the age of seven, her family left the island and moved permanently to the states where she was raised in a military lifestyle. As a kid she was very active. Like most older sisters, she enjoyed practicing gymnastics in the house and always loved to boss her four brothers around. She was a young fashionista that loved to shop, to stay up all night sewing a new outfit, and to ask her sister to iron her beautiful, long hair before school.
Vivian was a vibrant woman who had a quiet demeanor and did not enjoy being the center of attention. She was not always successful because her glow was apparent when she walked into a room.
In 1972, she met her future husband Vahik Dabbaghian while working at Toys “R” Us. After many pursuits by Vahik, she eventually found a day that she wasn’t scheduled to be “washing her hair,” and they eventually married on February 4, 1978. Together, they successfully raised their three children, Nicole, Andre and Nicholas, and are proud grandparents to Nora, Eli, and granddog Stella.
Professionally, she was proud to have represented the California Highway Patrol, Community Care Licensing, and CalTrans. Throughout her career, she cherished the opportunity to have worked with her in-laws and created lifelong friendships with many of her colleagues that became family to her.
Vivian was always dedicated to her family first. She and Vahik would host large holiday parties, tons of events for the kids and all their friends, and was always the most beautiful smile sitting in the stands for every recital, game and milestone event. Even just a few weeks ago she was cheering on her grandkids as the best sideline soccer game supporter. She would drop everything without hesitation to help her family and friends, which was a huge testament to her unconditional love.
In retirement Vivian loved daily walks with Vahik, Zumba and yoga classes with Nicole at Move, pizza nights with Nick and Katherine, special visits with Andre & Natalie, lots of playtime & adventures with Nora & Eli, family dinners with the Johnsons, lunch dates with her sister, in-laws and girl friends. Over the past year she refused to let her illness stop her from being with family and living as full a life as possible.
Vivian is predeceased by her parents Maria and Vicente and in-laws Ophelia and Hovannes. Vivian’s memory will be kept alive by her husband Vahik, 3 children Nicole, Andre and Nicholas, 2 grandchildren Nora and Eli, son-in-law Luke, daughters-in-law Katherine & Natalie, sister Lourdes, brothers Vincent, Steven, Edward and Jimmy, in-laws Janet & Yegish and a beautiful extended family of nieces, nephews and cousins. Her love and care for others never wavered as she would always put their needs in front of her own. We will always be able to enjoy a laugh in her memory by using one of her many nuanced sayings such as “whatever,” or “neeto,” and when we enjoy a “Nanny approved” four scoops of ice cream and extra dessert. Her spirit lives within us all and her love will shine through in the way we love each other wholeheartedly.
The family wishes to thank all that have reached out to give their support and condolences. Your love helps to carry on the love that she shared with us all.
