Anne Marie Huberdeau, a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, faithful friend, and treasured member of the LaGrange community, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness.
Anne Marie was born on November 18, 1944, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, to the late Dr. John T. McIlhone and Dorothy McIlhone. It was there that she met the love of her life, Dr. Rene-Marc Huberdeau. Together they built a beautiful life, sharing 62 wonderful years together, including 58 years of marriage, marked by enduring love, partnership, and unwavering devotion to one another.
Although Anne Marie earned her bachelor's degree in English from Marianopolis College in Montreal, her passion for helping others led her to teach mathematics at John F Kennedy High School in Montreal. She possessed a remarkable ability to encourage and inspire those around her, both inside and outside the classroom.
Anne Marie's greatest joy was her family. She poured her heart into her children and grandchildren, making each of them feel deeply loved and supported. Whether it was a school program, sporting event, recital, or milestone celebration, Anne Marie was always there. She rarely, if ever, missed one of her grandchildren's events, and they knew they could always count on seeing her smiling face in the crowd, cheering them on with pride. Her presence was one of life's greatest gifts to those she loved.
A gifted athlete, Anne Marie was an avid tennis player for decades. She was a founding member of the CHATA tennis association, captained numerous USTA tennis teams, and proudly competed in many state tournaments. The friendships she formed on the tennis court became some of the dearest relationships of her life.
Beyond tennis, Anne Marie embraced life with enthusiasm and generosity. She enjoyed playing bridge, was an active member of The Talisman Garden Club, participated in several book clubs, volunteered as a Meals on Wheels driver through First Presbyterian Church of LaGrange, and served as a Troup County divorce mediator.
Anne Marie had a remarkable gift for making people feel welcome, valued, and loved. Whether meeting someone for the first time or nurturing a friendship that spanned decades, Anne Marie had a way of making everyone feel like family. Her friends adored her, and she cherished those friendships as an extension of her own family. Her kindness, warmth, and genuine interest in others along with her great sense of humor left an unforgettable impression on everyone she met.
Anne Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. John T. McIlhone and Dorothy McIlhone.
She is lovingly survived by her devoted husband of 58 years, Dr. Rene-Marc Huberdeau; her children, Natalie (Bobby) Doerr, Marc (Marilyn) Huberdeau, and Julie (Brian) Patton; her brother, Quinn McIlhone; her cherished grandchildren, Ellie (Jake), Anna, Jack, Luke, Andy, Henry, and Sam; as well as many beloved cousins, extended family members, and cherished friends whose lives were forever enriched by knowing her.
A Celebration of Life honoring Anne Marie's remarkable life will be held on Friday, July 17, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church of LaGrange, Friends are invited to join the family for a reception following the service.
Anne Marie touched countless lives through her kindness, compassion, and unwavering love. Her family was the center of her world, and her legacy will live on in each of them.
