Arnold "Alex" Upchurch

Alex was born August 31, 1948, in LaGrange, GA to the late James Woodson Upchurch and Frances Erin Mostellar Upchurch. In addition to his parents he was preceded by his brother, Robert “Bobby” Upchurch and brother-in-law, Kenneth Holsombeck.

Alex graduated from LaGrange High School in 1966 and went on to attend Auburn University, where he earned a degree in Textile Engineering. He began his career with Milliken & Company and went on to enjoy a long career as Vice President of McDonald Oil Company. He was known for his love of Auburn football, fishing, bird hunting, and working on his latest project. He especially enjoyed spending weekends on the lake with his daughter, son-in-law and friends, and spending time with his family on vacations and holiday gatherings, reminiscing of the good ole days and sharing laughs.

He is survived by his daughter, Whitney Campassi and husband Chris, sisters, Joanne Holsombeck, Arlene Carter (David); nephews, Chad Holsombeck (Kristie), Todd Holsombeck and niece, Kenya Taylor and several great nieces and nephews.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held Saturday October 18, 2025, 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM in the Chapel of Striffler Hamby Mortuary. The Committal Service consisting of family and close friends will be held at 2:00 PM at Restlawn Memory Gardens in LaGrange, GA.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Emory Eye Care Center Research Fund or the Building Fund at First Baptist Church of LaGrange.
