Beverly Kardoes

Mrs. Kardoes was born April 17, 1941 in Fairmont, MN.,daughter of the late Charles McElwee and Hazel McGregor McElwee. She was a member of First Baptist Church on the Square, LaGrange, GA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Frank Kardoes and a son, Randy Kardoes.

Survivors include her daughter, Kathy Newman (Chuck); grandchildren, Taylor Marie Hardy (Brint), Payton Sosebee (Kaleb), Piper Kardoes, Bailey Kardoes, Kayla Newman, Chris Newman, Brent Kardoes, Brooke Kardoes, and Natalie Kardoes; great grandchildren, Mattison Murphy, Will Hardy, Ben Hardy, Kai Sosebee, Light Sosebee, and Anna Kate Hardy; sisters, Joyce Love (Dave) and Marilyn Mahaffey (Ken); brothers,Harold McElwee, the late Melvin McElwee (Jeannie) and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Beverly grew up in north central Iowa, and married Frank in 1961. After the birth of their two children Beverly and Frank moved to Athens, where they lived until their children were grown. A job opportunity led them to Lagrange in 1981 and although she worked as an office manager for many years, Beverly spent her time in Lagrange mostly with friends and family. She enjoyed playing tennis and golf, and going to Sunday School.

Beverly was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease more than twenty years ago, but was fortunate in that the disease didn’t slow her down until just the last few years.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at First Baptist Church on the Square, LaGrange, GA with Rev. Marty Carnes, Dr. Paul Baxter, and Rev. Paul Blair officiating. A private burial will follow. The gathering of family and friends will be on Tuesday from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. at First Baptist Church on the Square.

The family has requested contributions be made to First Baptist Church on the Square, LaGrange, GA or The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research in memory of Mrs. Beverly Kardoes.
