Bobbie Anne Holleran, age 94, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, March 30, 2024 in Fairfax, Virginia. She was born April 15, 1929 in LaGrange, Georgia, the daughter of the late Glover Smith and Alma Cadenhead Smith. Bobbie is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 66 years, Owen C. Holleran, Jr., as well as a sister, Marie Smith.
She was a graduate of LaGrange High School and attended LaGrange College, where she was a member of Kappa Tau Theta Sorority and the May Court. As an Army wife, she lived on numerous posts in the United States and Germany and returned to LaGrange after her husband’s retirement from federal service.
Bobbie was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, where she served in the Altar Guild and was the church’s wedding coordinator for many years. She was a member of the Army and Navy Club in Washington, DC and the Army-Navy Country Club in Arlington, Virginia, the LaGrange Woman’s Club, and a volunteer at Hospice LaGrange.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Michael Owen Holleran and Vicki Diane Holleran of Burke, VA; a daughter, Anne Marie Jenkins (and her partner, Stacey Ray Simpson) of Catlett, VA; two grandsons, Ryan Gregory Holleran (and his wife, Elizabeth Suzanne Holleran) and Cody Owen Jenkins; two granddaughters, Courtney Erin Holleran and Samantha Lee Wilfong; two great-grandchildren (Autumn Mae Wilfong and Justin Allen Wilfong, Jr.), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A viewing at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary in LaGrange will be held Saturday, April 13, at 11:00 AM, followed by graveside services at Hillview Cemetery, with the Rev. Andrew Gordon of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church officiating. The family will receive friends after the services in the event room of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary.
Flowers will be gratefully accepted, or contributions may be made to the LaGrange Art Museum.
