Even though “some of the details” are fabricated and the family is deeply saddened by his passing on Thursday, December 16, 2021 at West Georgia Hospice, this is how Brad would have wanted his obituary to read……
Bradford Lee Hawkins, 66, of Fredonia, AL passed away Thursday in a wild, fiery boating incident when his classic aluminum craft sailed off of the Crow Hop dam on the Chattahoochee River in Riverview. Conditions were foggy that morning as he was “trying to get a jump on the Stripers'' according to police. His last words were “Rooooooooolllllllll Tiiiiiiddddddeeeee”. Brad’s wishes were to be cremated, which was accomplished when the outboard motor filled with some kind of illegal jet fuel struck the rocks below the dam and caused a massive explosion that absolutely affected the Stripers. Any remaining ashes will be distributed in his happy place in the Gulf of Mexico in 2022.
Brad was the ex-husband of two great women that were decorated by the US Government following their dedicated service of being married to him. Both citations noted that he was a lovable scoundrel. He left behind four very resilient children and nine grandchildren that appreciated all of his hard work, the laughs and the fishing trips. He also leaves behind countless fishing and hunting buddies (all of questionable character); a host of extended family, friends and caregivers that will truly miss him and his unending stories.
At some point in the winter or spring of 2022 a memorial service will be planned for anyone who wishes to come together and analyze the overwhelming number of shenanigans that “Hawk” talked them into. Shoes optional.
In lieu of flowers or donations, the family requests that you take some loved one with questionable character on a fishing trip.
