She graduated from North Georgia College with a degree in Elementary Education. She spent her career as an Educator and retired from North Fulton County School System.
Carol was a passionate animal advocate and worked closely with animal rescue causes. She was also involved with several organizations that used dogs and horses as therapy animals for children and the elderly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ronald Charles Kelley, her brother William Washington Johnson Jr., and her sister Ann Johnson Woodward. She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff, caregivers, and families of Poplar Creek Senior Living of LaGrange. Carol spent the last 3 1/2 years there where she prospered and thrived in their care. Additionally, they would like to thank Wellstar West Georgia Hospice for their incredible compassion and care for Carol in her final days.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary Chapel in LaGrange, Georgia, on October 1, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. The Celebration of Life Memorial Service will begin at 1:00 pm with Rev. Dane Wagner officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Carol’s memory to The LaGrange-Troup County Humane Society, Poplar Creek Senior Living Center of LaGrange, or Wellstar West Georgia Hospice.
