Christopher Wyke

Christopher G. “Chris” Wyke, 85, of LaGrange, Georgia, passed away peacefully at Wellstar West Georgia Hospice on Saturday, August 8, 2026. He was born in Wednesbury, West Midlands, England on November 29, 1940, to Helen and Cyril Wyke.

Chris was a mechanical engineer by profession and proudly served in the British Royal Navy. Throughout his life, however, his greatest commitment was to his faith, his family, and serving others.

Chris was a man of steadfast faith, quiet strength, and faithful service and was a devoted member of Northside Baptist Church. He also dedicated more than 40 years to teaching Sunday school and served as a Boy Scout leader and an Awana leader. He invested countless hours in the lives of young people and helping guide them in their faith and character. In his later years, he continued his Christian service as a member of The Gideons International, sharing his faith and helping place Bibles in the hands of people around the world. He will be remembered not only for his professional accomplishments, but especially for the many lives he touched through his teaching, mentoring, leadership, and friendship.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 42 years, Beryl Wyke; his parents, Ellen and Cyril Wyke; and his brother, Brian Wyke, who passed away earlier this year.

Chris is survived by his children, Chris A. Wyke of LaGrange, GA and Alison Bolnick of Chattanooga, TN, and his granddaughter, Alicia Greer. He also leaves behind extended family and many dear friends whose lives were enriched by his love, wisdom, faith, and friendship.

A funeral service will be held Sunday, August 16, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at Northside Baptist Church in LaGrange, Georgia. Visitation will begin at 1:30 p.m. at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, The Gideons International or to Northside Baptist Church, in Chris’s memory.
