Cindy was an accomplished educator, retiring after 30 years of service in the Troup County School System. After many years in the classroom, she was named Troup County School Teacher of the year in 1985 and later ended her career as the Director of Special Education Services at the District Level. She was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa sorority for teachers for 48 years. She originally joined ADK while living in Kansas, but soon affiliated with the local chapter upon moving back to Georgia. Cindy was presently a dedicated member of Georgia Beta Iota and had achieved the level of Sapphire Sister. She was working toward the goal of achieving Golden Sister status by September 2025.
In addition to her family and career, Cindy held her church family at Rosemont Baptist Church close to her heart. She was among the first three baptized into the church in 1968 and became a devoted member serving in various capacities over the past 55 years, most notably as a preschool teacher to multiple generations. She later became the first official Preschool Director for Rosemont in 1995 and served in this position for many years.
Cindy was well-traveled, planning extensive excursions to visit nearly all fifty states (49/50) with her husband, sons, and grandchildren each summer. She had an adventurous spirit, spending the summers of her early retirement working alongside her husband at Grand Canyon National Park for nearly a decade, as well as at several Corps of Engineers campgrounds in and around Troup County until her husband’s passing.
In recent years, Cindy became deeply involved in The Active Life Center, spending most every day enjoying exercise, games, and socialization with her friends there.
