Daniel Smith

Daniel was born on October 30, 1931, to the late Eunice J. Smith and Dovie Pearl Daniel Smith.

He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Annette Adams Smith; children, Teresa Wright and Randy Smith; grandchildren, Christy Thornhill and her husband Steve, Lynn Wood and Jonathan Smith and his wife Soleil; great-grandchildren, Ryan Thornhill and his wife Katherine, Katie Monteith and her husband Zach, Jacob Thornhill, Dale Thornhill and his wife Savannah, Caden Wood, Ember Smith and Colton Smith; five great-great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Daniel, above all, was a man of faith. He was a loving and devoted husband to Annette of nearly 74 years as well as a proud father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather and loved his family deeply. Daniel was a Patriot and an Army Veteran who served his country faithfully. His working career spans from Callaway Mills and then to Milliken and Company where he later retired. Daniel and Annette are members of Ayres Memorial Church of LaGrange.

In addition to his parents, Daniel was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Monica Hawkins.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held Saturday March 28, 2026, from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM in the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary. The Celebration of His Life Service will begin at 3:30 PM with Rev. Wayne Hester officiating. The Committal will take place after the service at Hillview Annex Cemetery in LaGrange.
