

Rev. David Lamar Phillips, 77, of LaGrange died Friday, February 05, 2010 at West Georgia Medical Center.Rev. Phillips was born October 1, 1932 in LaGrange, GA, son of the late Joe Lovelace Phillips and Ida Mae Waldroup Phillips. He had lived in LaGrange all his life and was a member of East LaGrange Baptist Church. Rev. Phillips was a graduate of Gray Hill School and was retired as a truck driver and a Methodist Minister. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran where he served in the Korean Conflict. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Phyllis Upchurch Phillips and a granddaughter, Amanda Sims.Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Shelnutt Phillips of LaGrange; six children, Debbie (Keith) McIntyre of Hogansville, GA, Connie Mashburn, Patti (Barry) Fowler, Steve (Diann) Phillips, Alan (Debbie) Shelnutt, and Kevin (Cassie) Shelnutt, all of LaGrange; twenty grandchildren and their spouses; fourteen great grandchildren; one brother, Curtis (Mertis) Phillips; and several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held 3:00 P.M. Sunday, February 7, 2010 at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Bobby Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery.The family will be at the home of his wife, Mrs. Mary Ann Phillips, and will receive friends at the funeral home today from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O.
